Spark of history in North Street home

Before the turn of the last century, the home atop the hill at 390 North St. was an anomaly.

The property became known as Electric Hill after Edward H. Johnson -- an inventor who partnered with Thomas Edison and led companies that would eventually become General Electric and Con Edison, New York City's electric utility -- installed at the estate what was believed to be the first electrical lights in Greenwich and, possibly, the world.
