Caddyshack and the "Good" Lord

Golfer: Nice shot, Bishop. You must have made a deal with the devil! Bishop: You know, theoretically, I could break the Club record. Golfer: You better come in until this blows over. Bishop: So what do you think? Carl: I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will come down for a while. Bishop: You're right. Anyway, the good Lord would never disrupt the best game of my life. [Bishop continues to golf in the rain, hitting amazing shot after amazing shot, with Carl admiring him the entire time. On the last hole, he misses a long putt.] Bishop: OH RAT FARTS!!!!! [Bishop is struck by lightning.] Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Women as weaker vessels.

I Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel...

Women only get broken because the man wasn't strong enough to keep hold on the vessel, letting it go to be broken.

Was the Bible wrong or Harold Camping Wrong?

How to reconcile a failed prophecy. First I understand prophecy to be the foretelling of a future event as revealed solely by God to a human being. By definition that means that when someone says "God told me this or that about a future event" it means that it will happen at the appointed time with 100% accuracy or the prophecy is false; not the Bible or God, but the prophecy itself or the one that spoke it are false. (KJV)Deuteronomy 18:21-22 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? [22] When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord , if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

An example of a true prophecy would be when Joseph warned the Egyptian King Pharoah that there would be a famine in the land for several years and to stockpile all their goods in preparation for the famine. This led Joseph ( an Israelite) to be the 2nd highest in command over all of pagan nation of Egypt.

Bible Study Reminder Tonight 7pm

It's not about how long you walk with God, it's about "how" you walk with God. The testimony of Enoch is that he walked 365 years, but he walked those years "with God"... Don't put off walking with God until later... Tonights Bible Study covers HEBREWS Chapter 11 verse 5 thru 7

Don't be ashamed to call upon HIS name!

2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;1:9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began

Man loves to boast about him/herself. Just listen to or think about classic hip hop songs its all about “me, myself, and I”. Secular Rap songs of the world always boast about the capabilities of the MC proving to the world why they are the greatest MC. As people in the flesh we love to boast about what we’ve accomplished in the world. As a Christian although

we try

it is impossible to boast about anything that we have done for the cause of Christ, because its Jesus that’s doing the work, and getting the glory!

There is no shame in giving God the glory, saying “God did it!” 2 Timothy

I lost my keys, my phone...even Andrew one time!

Losing Faith? :(

It is more common than we'd like to believe that sometimes even whom we perceive to be the most "holiest" among us lose faith. Consider for a moment; Mary and Joseph had lost JESUS. They literally possessed FAITH and lost Jesus. They were returning from Jerusalem, and after some time realized "where's Jesus". Some may say, how coudld somebody "misplace" JESUS, especially Mary because she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that He was "THE" gift from God and God himself as told to her by an angel of the Lord.

First let me say, I've done this. I lost Andrew. He was still "car seat age". Our family a group of 8 or more all went to the movies...we used the town mall "valet parking" and as my wife and family members emptied out of the van, I assumed my wife had Andrew, I turned the keys over to the valet and as we waited for the rest of the group I realized I left andrew in the car with the valet attendent (no tip for them not realizing a baby was in the car).

Beginning again with God

We spent News Years Eve in Washington, DC. While in the hotel, I love opening the drawer and seeing the Bible. I snapped a photo, uploaded it to facebook and posed the question "What will be the first verse of the new year?" (What would I randomly open the book too). Pastor Charlie replied "In the beginning"... I thought it was funny (his personality is awesomely off :)... Yet it  made so much sense to me later as I really considered "In the beginning GOd..."

I'd no doubt like to begin this year with more of God.d

1. Begin to give God more... this principle is simply, God will be a debter to no one, yet I know the areas I held back giving God everything in, and I'd like to turn those areas back over to God.

2. Begin to call upon the name of the Lord more... Although my heart was completely emptied in asking God to "earthly heal my mother" We need to also humble ourselves and call upon the name of the Lord in the "Little areas" too. We can be too prideful sometimes and think "this is an area I don't need God to bless, I can take care of this, and I'll trust God for the big stuff.

Merry Christmas, Today we celebrate Isaiah 53

1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Sunday Sermon: The miracle of Unbelief to Belief

It is nothing short of a miracle that man even has the ability to believe in God. Check out part 3 of this sermon that outlines the struggles of moving from unbelief to belief in God.
